About Us

Green Woman Rugs is Dixie Cox's site to feature her original designs and display her rugs.  She also posts articles about different aspects of the craft to benefit both beginners and old pros alike.  Dixie sells some of her patterns on occasion, and any inquiries can be sent via the feedback section on the "Contact Dixie" page

Dixie has been drawing since she was seven years old and sewing for that long too.  The textile arts are not something new to her.  It is in her blood.  Dixie's Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother were and are extremely talented seamstresses.  "My Grandmother taught me to embroidery and sew while I was a child spending my summer vacations with her," says Dixie.  Rug hooking has been the perfect outlet for her love of drawing and fabric.  "I really think I must have hooked in another life, because it just feels so natural to me."

In addition to traditional and textile arts, she has also published two cookbooks, and enjoys teaching sewing and crafts to children and youth as a means to develop enthusiasm for these unique art forms.

Our Mission

To share the craft of Rug Hooking with people from all over the world.  We have online friends from all over the US and Canada, and welcome visitors from other areas as well.
